Last night, Seattle Business Magazine honored our company at its 7th annual Tech Impact Award, which recognizes companies in Washington state that are using technology to impact business, industry or society. I found the mix of ‘technology’ inspiring, as the list of finalists went well beyond conventional technology; ranging from space travel to concussion prevention.
At the awards gala, I had my 1 minute and 55 seconds on the mainstage and took the opportunity to explain to the audience our company’s value proposition. Here’s my paraphrase…
Everyone understands BYOB.. like when you’re going to a restaurant whose food is better than their wine list. Everyone also understands BYOD.. like when you’re working at a company who issues recycled laptops to run applications, rather than a more convenient tablet. Tempered Network’s solution enables BYON.. or ‘Bring Your Own Network’. What this means in practical terms is that you can build a private overlay network with native weapons-grade security, on the fly. Securely connect any ‘thing’ to any ‘thing’, so simply even a CEO could do it!
Think of the possibilities... instant networks that are highly available, radically secure, remarkably simple.
I think the audience got it, but most importantly, BYON has been transformational for our customers. Because of it, our customers are bridging the gap between OT, IT and successfully achieving their IoT initiatives.
I’m thrilled with the recognition. It’s both gratifying and paradoxical, because here at Tempered Networks we’re working very hard to have ‘Security’ eliminated as a separate tech category! We’re really a networking company that’s secure by default.
